Tartar Cleaning
Tartar is a hard dental deposit, strongly attached to the teeth and cannot be removed with a toothbrush and toothpaste at home. Its removal must be done professionally using manual or machine (ultrasound) instruments for that purpose. Tartar acts as an indirect cause of periodontitis. Because it has a rough surface that is excellent for the accumulation of dental plaque, but also due to the pressure of the gingiva (palate) it disrupts the blood flow through the gingiva, which is also one of the causes of diseases of the supporting apparatus of the tooth. We most often remove tartar with ultrasound from the company EMS, which uses ultrasonic vibrations to destroy the structure of the tartar and allow its removal. After this, rinsing with hydrogen, betadine, and finally polishing the teeth with a brush and toothpaste is done to create a smooth surface of the teeth for less plaque adhesion.
Note: After removing the tartar, a slight loosening of the teeth may occur, because it acted as an immobilization splint that kept the teeth from luxating (wobbling). However, this luxation (wobbling) of the teeth is not caused by the removal of the tartar. Luxation of the teeth occurs as a result of damage and loss of a large part of the supporting apparatus of the tooth (gingiva, periodontium, cementum and alveolar bone), which occurred primarily as a result of inadequate oral hygiene and the presence of large amounts of dental plaque. For these reasons, tartar must be removed because it is a favoring factor for the deposition of dental plaque, which will further progress the disease until complete loss of the teeth.
