Sealing of fissures and pits of teeth is a procedure that is performed in childhood, immediately after the eruption of permanent, usually lateral teeth. Since lateral teeth, according to their anatomy, have a chewing surface on which there are fissures (dentations), they are a predilection place where dental plaque is deposited, from where it is more difficult to remove, and most often there caries appear. Therefore, in order to prevent the occurrence of caries, these fissures are filled with a sealant, a procedure known as sealing.
At Dentoria, we use Twinky star voco colored, high-gloss, toxicologically safe compomers for filling teeth, which are available in eight colors (gold, silver, blue, green, pink, orange, yellow and purple). This way, we allow children to choose the color of the filling that will be placed on them.
Pouring technique:
First, the tooth surface is mechanically cleaned with a brush and paste. Then, if composite sealants are used, etching, bonding, composite placement, and polishing are performed. If a glass ionomer sealant is used, since it chemically bonds to the tooth surface, it is placed, compressed (pressured) and coated with petroleum jelly. In this way, the sealed teeth are protected from caries and all the complications that it brings.
