Post-implant care instructions
After any surgical procedure, the body needs time to recover. We would like to help you with tips on how to take good care of your health at home while you recover. We are always here for all your questions and for support during all stages of the implant placement procedure. Remember, every organism is different and unique, so the recovery process will be different for each patient.
Care immediately after implant placement
Apply ice packs to your face (which you will receive from Dentoria staff) after surgery, around the area where the surgery was performed, strictly following your dentist's professional instructions.
Hydrate your lips with lip balm
Try not to spit, rinse your mouth for the first 2 days postoperatively within the period determined by your dentist.
Pain
Avoid physical exertion.
Do not drive.
Avoid talking too much. Speak less often and more quietly.
General Care
Avoid excessively hot and stuffy spaces.
Avoid exposure to sun, humidity or rain.
Food
Avoid drinking or eating while the anesthesia is taking effect, wait until the anesthesia has completely worn off. Avoid hot foods and drinks, such as coffee and tea, especially in the first 24 hours after surgery.
Do not smoke or drink alcohol.
Chew on the side opposite your surgery.
Try to drink and eat soft foods, cold or frozen foods (fruit juices, yogurt, cold soups and stews), especially in the first 24 hours after surgery.
Don't let food deposits build up around your stitches (that's why at Dentoria we always give away a brush for post-operative care).
Drink plenty of water, hydration is very important.
Return to your normal eating and drinking habits gradually, after the third day of surgery.
Do not take medication on an empty stomach.
Sleep
Try to sleep with your head elevated (in comparison to your body). Use more than one pillow. Lie with your face facing the ceiling or on the opposite side from where you had the surgery. Do not touch your stitches with your fingers or any other object (stick, etc.).
Oral Hygiene
Brush your teeth without or with very little toothpaste, except in the areas where surgery has been performed, where you should use a special post-surgery toothbrush (without touching the gums).
Brush your tongue and use a tongue scraper. Floss normally, except in the area where the surgery was performed. Apply the antiseptic solution as directed by your dentist.
